Portals use magic or other means to teleport characters and items over any distance. Across Arelith there are a number of magic portals which characters can use to instantly move from one place to another. A character can only use portals which he or she has "activated". To activate a portal all you need to do is click on it.

Portal Types

There are four types of portals on Arelith: Two way, Source, Destination and Single destination.

Two Way Portals

You can travel from these portals to any other Two Way or One Way Exit Only portal. You can travel to them from any other Two Way or One Way Entrance Only portal.

Source Portals

Very similar to the Two Way portals, you can travel from this type of portal to any Two Way or Destination portal, however you cannot travel to this portal by any means.

Destination Portal

The opposite of a Source portal you can travel from any Two Way or Source portal to a Destination portal, but you cannot travel to anywhere from this portal. This type of Portal must be found by other means, and "spoken" to in order to "unlock" it as a destination, and is by far the most common type of portal you will encounter around Arelith.

Single Destination

Often (but not always) found deep in dungeons, this type of portal leads directly from one place to one other place (though rarely back again), such as from the bottom of a dungeon to its entrance.

Teleport Command

The -teleport command can be accessed if you have Greater Spell Focus: Transmutation. Using this will allow you to portal much as if using a Source portal.

Portal Lenses

Portal Lenses can be crafted at Art stations, bought in shops or found on some NPCs. These let you portal much as if using a Source portal. They are listed as "unlimited use per day", but each of them has only one use. A script will still remove the portal lens after character has teleported away. This was done to battle several previous bugs.

Since no dialogue prompt can be open during combat, portal lenses cannot be used as escape method reliably. They may, however, be used to escape preemptively.

See Art_crafting#Mundane_Consumeables for the recipe.
