Introduction

The following links contain both mechanical information and information regarding each race's place in both the Forgotten Realms and Arelith.

Choosing A Subrace

Please do not type in your character's subrace during intial character creation. Upon logging in to Arelith with a new character, a setup dialog will open, allowing subrace selection.

To apply subrace statistic modifiers and special abilities, select the Gift of Subrace. Subrace characters without the Gift of Subrace will have default statistic modifiers and special abilities, but they will still retain their nature. A kobold without Gift of Subrace will have all the halfing default abilities, but will still be regarded mechanically as a kobold for any other function; appraise checks, hostile NPCs, settlement disposition, etc.

Other Gifts may be used in addition to, or in place of, the Gift of Subrace, to create different types of characters.


Changes On Selection shows how a character's statistics will be altered when a subrace is applied. Use these modifiers to calculate your character's final statistics. The bonuses and penalties are not cumulative, the subrace replaces the previous bonuses. In some cases the secondary bonuses and special abilities may remain.

Example:

Normal dwarves (shield dwarves) have naturally +2 Con, -2 Cha.
Gold dwarves that take the Gift of Subrace have +2 Con, -2 Dex.
If a newly created dwarf with 14 Dex, 20 Con and 6 Cha takes the Gold Dwarf subrace and the Gift of Subrace...
Then the stats will change to 12 Dex, 20 Con and 8 Cha.

Planetouched
