Description

Gloamings are planetouched beings descended from natives of Toril and the Plane of Shadow. These unusual creatures are quite uncommon in the Underdark and extremely rare in the surface world. Most observers can easily recognize that a gloaming is planetouched in some fashion, but few know exactly how. Members of other races often mistake a gloaming for some sort of tiefling. Gloamings are compulsive travelers who pride themselves on their individualism. The difficult conditions in the Underdark quickly teach them caution and the merits of working with others. While their inquisitiveness may lead them to choose the adventuring life, it does not make them completely foolish risk-takers. In a similar manner, their individuality tends to express itself in ways that do not interfere with working with other gloamings or members of other races. Gloamings are pale-skinned humanoid with catlike eyes and dark wings. Their skin is naturally luminescent, and they can control its glow, choosing a degree of illumination from none to as bright as a torch. Typical gloamings have one or more tattoos that create interesting shading effects when their skin glows.

  • Greater Skill Affinity (Move Silently): +4 bonus to Move Silently checks

  • Spell Focus: Illusion
  • Hardiness vs Illusions
  • Keen Sense
  • Low-light Vision
  • Winged Character
    • Winged characters receive their full character level as a Climbing bonus
    • 25% reduced falling damage
    • Immune to the Earthquake Spell
  • Special Abilities
  • Can innately interact with Shadow Doors
  • Automatically detect Shadow Doors
  • 20% Immunity to Psychic Damage
  • 5/- Damage Resistance to Psychic Damage
  • Native Outsider
  • Can cast Light on self via the Innate Ability token. When used this way, the Gloaming starts to glow.
  • Vulnerability to Sunlight
    • Incurs increasing Damage Vulnerability when spending time within sunlight. Just like other sunlight-sensitive races, Gloamings are blinded by Sunburst, Sunbeam and Sunfire.

Appearance

Gloamings can pick between three different appearances for shadowy wings on creation. Gloaming PCs can contact DMs if they were made prior to the additional options to have their wing model changed.
