Different kinds of fixtures or items exist in Arelith to have a fun time, gamble, enable tournaments, distribute loot, resolve disputes or as a way to boost RP in taverns.

The current games available are:

Games

Darts

Many dart boards exist around the island; most likely, they can be seen in a tavern.

To play, a player has to speak (Ideally as a 'silent Tell sent to oneself) where on the dart board they wish to aim for followed by a Number from 1-20. Eg 'S20' or 'D5', or 'Single 20' or 'Outer Bull' etc.

  • S- Single D - Double
  • T- Tripple / Treble
  • IB - Inner Bull
  • OB - Outer Bull

After this, attack the board while darts are equipped. Most bartender NPCs and Smiths have those available to purchase.

A player can examine the Dart Board for more detailed instructions In-game.

Note: Throwing axes can also be instead of darts, to allow large races to play the game.

Cards

Card fixtures can be found or crafted to play cards.

How they work can be found at the Forums.

Dices

Dice tables can be found (or crafted), and dice items are available for purchase. When used, a pair of dice is rolled, and the game displays their value.

No rules or other in-game mechanics guide this game, allowing the players to determine how to play.

The most common way to determine the winner is to sum both dice; the highest roller wins.

Coins

Different etched coin items can be found and when used they will be flipped to display one of their two sides.

No rules or other in-game mechanics guide this game, allowing the players to determine how to play. As every coin is different, be sure to state clearly which side is the winner.

Spinning Wheels

Roulettes can only be found in the word. When used, the character will spin it and after some time, it will stop and mention the result, which will be a number that varies per roulette, up to 46 segments.

A Reaper's Wheel exist that in addition to have numbers between 1 and 36, it has a Scythe and Double Scythe, equivalent to 0 and 00. The color is also announced for odd or even numbers.

Cheating

The -cheat command can be used to cheat, portent or magically alter coin, spinning wheels and dice while playing. This allows you to secure a specific outcome with dice or coins on your subsequent use of them. The checks are silent, but if an opposing check is successful, the observer will receive a hint that something is amiss about your play.

  • You must re-use the cheat command every time you make a roll or coin toss, as it only applies on your next attempt.
  • Do know, also, that it will be difficult to get away with cheating and portenting if you do it too often in a short amount of time. Observers are given a temporary bonus for each consecutive attempt. Unless you're particularly skilled, you may consider waiting at least 5 minutes between uses.

Cheating Modes

There are three different modes of cheating: Mundane is the default mode, and two magical modes are Portent and Guise.

Mundane

Attempts to use hand tricks to alter the results of the game.

Uses a Sleight of Hand + d20 check, opposed by a Spot + d20 Check.
  • Illusion Spell Focus gives a bonus to all cheating attempts. Conversely, Divination Spell Foci gives bonuses to opposing checks.
  • Loremaster greater Divination or Illusion secrets count as Epic Spell focuses to use the modes and in any calculation involved while cheating.

Portent

This mode needs Greater spell focus Divination to predict the game's result.

Use your Divination Focuses (Specialists also get a bonus) and Spellcraft to attempt to portent the next game piece result. Opposing parties can use Spellcraft, and Divination Focuses to determine whether you have used a portent attempt.

Even though Portenting game piece results give Diviners a powerful advantage over other gamblers... such attempts are not always successful. There is a chance of failure.
  • Luck Domain:
    • Counts as Divination Specialist both for the purpose of reducing Portent failure chance, and increasing their Divination bonuses to corresponding Spellcraft rolls.
    • May trigger a godsave boon that will turn the tables in your favor under the effect of Curse of Misfortune.

Guise

This mode needs Greater spell focus Illusion to attempt via illusions to change the facing to look the way you desire.

Use your Illusion Focus (Specialists also get a bonus) and Spellcraft to attempt to guise the next game piece result. This means that you will know your actual result, but others may see a different one instead. Opposing parties can use Spellcraft and Divination Focuses OR Spot and Divination Focuses to determine whether you have faked the facings.

  • Illusion Domain:
    • Count as Illusion Specialists for the purpose of Guise Facing and standard Sleight-of-Hand cheat functions. This can improve some of their bonuses as a result.
  • Trickery Domain:
    • Gets a +2 bonus to the Spellcraft Check on Guise Facing, since they already get a +2 Sleight of Hand bonus for standard cheat methods, which makes it equally useful for both cheat methods.

Curse of Misfortune

Applies a -15 penalty to all cheat-related skill checks, which means you'll be a lot easier to detect while doing it.

  • Terrible things will now happen to dice rolls on occasion...
  • Because it's too difficult to predict what result a character wants to achieve with coins, this curse currently does not affect coin flips. This may change in the future.
