Chests

Chests with treasures are located on many places on Arelith island. Some of them are easy to find, while others are hidden.

Chest Bashing

Some chests are bashable, and those can be bashed. If it is in your character's nature to bash chests then nothing stops you from doing so. Bashed chests take exactly the same amount of time to respawn as the contents of a chest do.

Most of the content of the chest will be destroyed in the bashing and only coins will be left. Therefore it is always beneficial for adventuring parties to employ services of some lock-picking artist.

Runic Chests

Runic Chests, also referred to as Runic Shrines, are found in Epic (end game) areas usually guarded by Epic (end game) encounters. These chests have several mechanical (coded) limitations that we have limited information on.

What we know is:

1. There is a common cooldown timer applied to all group members when any Runic Chest is opened by a group member. Meaning that any Runic Chests subsequently opened by any individual or by a member of a group with such an individual in it, with this cooldown timer in play for them, will not contain any runic materials until the cooldown timer is completed.
2. There is a limitation that requires the group / individual opening the chest to "kill things" within the epic dungeon the Runic Chest is in. Meaning, simply opening the chest is not enough, other things must be completed prior to opening the chest for it to contain Runic Material.
3. Rules and Etiquette relating to Runic Chests can be found here.
