Bans allow the staff to disable the possibility of logging on server for a player. This final punishment is usually reserved for repeated or serious breaking of rules. Ban can be tied either to the CD key, IP address or range of IP addresses. Bans are usually temporary, determined by the ruling DM in question, but can be made permanent if the DM determines that the offense was large enough.
Temporary bans that are broken are grounds for immediately upgrading the ban to permanent.
Pirated and public CD Keys are banned in Arelith. You may buy a digital copy of the game with a valid CD Key from Good Old Games.
Recognizing ban
What happens when CD keys are banned: Player will be still able to connect to GameSpy and the multiplayer tab. They can even enter the server and make a character, but the moment player hits the "enter" or "play", they will be booted.
Please, note that the same will happen when database is down and servers don't accept any players. If there are no other players on the server then the problem is likely in something else then a ban.
