| 1. Soft Modifier Check: By convention, a Soft Modifier check examines the enhanced ability modifier. This is the base ability score modifier (what you see when you examine the character on the character selection screen prior to logging into the server with that character) plus all ability modifiers added by items, spells, abilities. On Arelith the "soft ability" is capped at +12 over the base ability score, which in turn caps the modifier at +6 over the base modifier.
