Mages (wizards and sorcerers) require spell components to cast higher level (7-9) spells. In order to be used, the spell components must be kept in a spell components pouch. It's just too fiddly to try to pull them out of your bag while casting spells.
Crafting
Spell components can be crafted through either alchemy or art crafting. Alchemical spell components require 1 greenstone and 1 glass, while art crafting spell components require 1 malachite and 1 brass.
